| Jim Zeek operates a small certified organic farm in Camino, CA on eight acres. He has a B.S in Business Administration (minor, forest products) Oregon State University and Master of Divinity (minor, theology). San Francisco Theological Seminary. His work history includes: pastor; youth program and branch executive director for YMCA of Greater New York; contractor-residential and commercial, sawmill machine operator and quality control technician. Among his many past and present volunteer activities relevant to farming includes thirteen years service on California Certified Organic Farmers Certification Standards Committee and four years as it’s chairperson during which time he materially contributed to CCOF achieving US Dept of Agriculture accreditation. He currently is a Trustee and treasurer for the CCOF Foundation which is beginning an expanded “Going Organic” project to encourage and aid farmers in the central valley and Sierra Foothills to convert 5,000 acres from conventional to organic production. Jim is married to Michal Lawrence, a high school teacher of German and English. He has an adult son and daughter and two adult stepsons. He has farmed organically for 17 years; certified since 1990. |
